SENECIO (L.) - СЕНЕЦИО (КРЕСТОВНИК)
Обширный род, насчитывающий по разным данным от 1000 до 3000 видов, лишь часть из которых является суккулентными. Название происходит от лат. senecius ("старческий") из-за войлокоподобного опушения или воскового налета на листьях и седых "хохолков", образующихся на плодах.
Суккулентные виды распространены в Южной и Юго-Восточной Африке, на Канарских островах, в Юго-Западной Европе, на Аравийском полуострове и в Мексике.
Сок всех крестовников ядовит.
Описание: Разнообразные по внешнему виду растения - травянистые, кустарниковые, древовидные, ампельные, лианы, безлистные, с листьями-бусинками, стапелиевидные, розеточные. Кистевидное соцветие состоит из множества мелких цветков желтого, белого или красного цвета. Цветки напоминают небольшую гвоздику; у некоторых видов, отцветая, становятся похожими на одуванчик.
Культивирование: Требуется яркое рассеянное освещение. В период роста полезно опрыскивание и подкормки комплексными удобрениями раз в 2 недели. Зимой необходим период покоя при +8...+10С.
Почва: Смесь равных частей дерновой, листовой земли, перегноя, торфа и песка.
Полив: летом умеренный, раз в 2-3 дня; зимой редкий - 2-3 раза в месяц.
